Lillian Gonzalez, CPA, MST, CSEP, CSRP, ADPA, CDFA has extensive experience in the area of non-profit accounting and taxation. Over the years, she has acted as a consultant and instructor for the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA), Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, YouthBuild U.S.A., and Jack Surgent & Associates. Lillian Gonzalez is a recipient of the MSCPA’s “2010 Women to Watch Award” in the "Experienced Leaders" category. In 1994, she was named outstanding instructor by the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, Inc. for presenting herself as a top discussion leader for CPE courses.  

In addition, she has created and conducted courses for Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, Inc.’s, the Boston Women's Fund Annual Conference, Tufts University Management Institute, Associated Grant makers, The Support Center of Massachusetts, Accounting Assistance Program and various private foundations. Over the years, she has assisted non-profit agencies in developing alternative fund-raising strategies and operational models to enhance revenue collection.

She has received her Certificate in Education Achievement (CEA) for both Personal Financing Planning and Governmental Accounting and Auditing and has become a certified specialist in estate and retirement planning. Lillian Gonzalez also holds the ADPASM designation which represents specialty in the area of wealth transfers, federal taxation, retirement planning, and planning for financial and medical end-of-life needs for domestic partners. In 2013 she received a new professional designation of Certified Divorce Financial Analyst CDFA™, a mark granted by “The Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts™ is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA)”.  

Ms. Gonzalez is responsible for over 100 corporate, trust and partnership returns and 1,000 individual returns, and performs certified audits.

She is a past board member of the Support Center of Massachusetts, Inc., and is a past member of the Massachusetts Society of CPA's Grantee and Not-for-Profit Committee, past treasurer at Arlington Street Church, past advisory board member at the Boston Foundation, past treasurer at La Alianza Hispana, Inc., past community advisory board member at WGBH, and current advisory board member of Wheelock Family Theater. She also published an article in the spring, 1992, for the CPA Review entitled "Illustrating UBI".

Ms. Gonzalez is bilingual and is a well-respected leader in the Latino community as well as in the non-profit community. In September 1994, she appeared on the Fox-25 production "When I Was a Girl". She believes in the importance of promoting leadership within the community among youth as well as on a professional level. Recently, because of tax issues associated with same gender marriages, she has interviewed on NPR and has been quoted in USA Today and The Boston Globe.

Marcie joined our firm as an intern in 2003. She obtained her Bachelor and Master’s in Accounting from Stonehill College. She provides full audit and tax services including Individual, Corporate, Partnership, Estate and Trust tax preparation. She plans and leads on over 40 nonprofit audits and provides technical expertise to nonprofit management relative to tax compliance and corporate governance. Marcie also continues to develop her skills integrating tax and financial considerations in recommending entity structures for operations and is also a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

Nancy Adams-Aviles, BS

Nancy joined our team in 2013 after working as a senior accountant in a public accounting firm for over 16 years and prior to that in the private sector for over 10 years.  She has extensive experience in the advising on taxation of individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, estates and non-profit organizations.  Nancy rounds out her expertise with experience in estate planning and probate administration.  Nancy received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire with a major in mathematics and minor in business administration.

Mark Faron, EA, MST

Mark, an Enrolled Agent, joined the firm as a Tax Supervisor in 2016. He has eighteen years of previous tax experience with knowledge in corporate, partnerships, non-profits and individuals taxes. His current duties include reviewing tax engagements, preparing more complicated tax returns, tax research and various other duties. Mark received his Masters of Science in Taxation from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting, from Bryant University. His professional affiliations include memberships in Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Enrolled Agents, Massachusetts Society of Enrolled Agents, MSCPA - Federal Taxation Committee.

Virginia Lanphear, BS

Virginia holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Summa Cum Laude, from Bridgewater State College. After working numerous years in the private sector as a Senior Accountant, Virginia joined our firm in 2002. She worked several years as a Senior Staff Accountant for our firm and decided to venture back into the retail industry, successfully owning and managing a retail business. Virginia joined our firm in 2010 and provides full audit and tax services to our clients. Her ability to synthesize technical skills with her business experience provides our clients with a unique practical perspective and approach to business problems.

Kim joined our firm in 2001. She received her Associates degree in business from Massasoit Community College and has provided full audit and tax services to our clients. She leads on over 30 audits and has extensive nonprofit as well as tax experience. She is continuing to develop her expertise in the area of business and tax planning.

Barbara Suhrstedt

Barbara Suhrstedt joined our staff in 2007.  She enjoyed a 25 year career with her late husband Gerhardt, performing as a piano duo throughout the USA, in Canada and in Russia.  She currently serves on the Boards of Directors of FLAME, a Russian Sister-City organization, and ONLY A CHILD, helping children in Guatemala. She is listed in the 2011 editions of Marquis’s “Who’s Who in America”, “Who’s Who in American Women” and “Who’s Who in the World”.

Jolanda Sepulveda-Muniz, AB – Associate of Business

Jolanda joined the staff in 2014.  She received her Associates Degree in Business from Massasoit Community College, and for over 5 years worked as a Financial Aid Advisor for a post-secondary school.  As Office Manager, Jolanda supports the Principal Lillian Gonzalez. Jolanda has strong customer service skills, provides additional financial resources and brings a fresh perspective to our team.
